Onward by faith as a pilgrim and stranger

1.
Onward by faith as a pilgrim and stranger
T’ward heaven’s city I hasten along.
Though I meet hardships and storms on my journey,
Yet with my Jesus I press on with song.
2.
All those who walk in the light and are faithful—
They in Christ’s blood are cleansed constantly here.
With one another their fellowship’s blessed.
Life in the Spirit grows daily more clear.
3.
Yes, life increases; we gain understanding
Of Jesus’ ways—and by faith, glory win.
Thus we partake in His manifold treasures.
Jesus’ own peace, joy, and rest grow within.
4.
If in your flesh you are willing to suffer,
Then in the end you’ll be finished with sin.
But those unwilling to strive and to battle
Never the Master’s own likeness will win.
5.
Yes, let us look to our precious Lord Jesus,
Who of Himself the way down chose to run.
See how He fought, prayed with tears to His Father,
“Save from this hour?—No! Your will, Lord, be done!”
6.
“Father, a body to Me You have given.
All that is written I now must fulfill.”
Never relenting, He went forth with gladness:
“It is my meat to do only Your will.”
