1.
Better to obey than sacrifice—
We must listen and take heed.
First, we need to hear the Word of Christ,
Then obey His will with speed.
Not all those will enter in who’ve
With their lips the Lord professed.
They must bear their cross, God’s will to do,
And through death go into rest.
We must listen and take heed.
First, we need to hear the Word of Christ,
Then obey His will with speed.
Not all those will enter in who’ve
With their lips the Lord professed.
They must bear their cross, God’s will to do,
And through death go into rest.
2.
Many in these days have gone astray.
From God’s witnesses they’ve turned.
To this world, like Demas, drawn away—
For its praise and glamour yearned.
Others, seeking gain and riches,
On God’s paths no longer go.
Just like Balaam, they the Lord resist—
Pressing on where God says No!
From God’s witnesses they’ve turned.
To this world, like Demas, drawn away—
For its praise and glamour yearned.
Others, seeking gain and riches,
On God’s paths no longer go.
Just like Balaam, they the Lord resist—
Pressing on where God says No!
3.
Bearing Jesus’ yoke is worth the price,
And His burden is so light.
Those who find their life and learn of Christ
Learn to love and serve aright.
They can shine forth in the darkness
In this world of sin and strife,
And as streams in desert wilderness,
With the Word of Christ bring life.
And His burden is so light.
Those who find their life and learn of Christ
Learn to love and serve aright.
They can shine forth in the darkness
In this world of sin and strife,
And as streams in desert wilderness,
With the Word of Christ bring life.
