So few choose the glorious way of the cross,
For all that was gain you must reckon as loss.

The way Jesus opened is simple and clear.
Just those who will suffer obey when they hear.
So listen to Jesus and faithfully heed;
Thus show who you are both in word and in deed.

As part of Christ’s body and led by His hand,
Our progress must be as both lion and lamb.
With God’s Word our bread, then in growing degree,
A savor to death and to life we will be.

Let righteousness reign, and the prize you’ll receive.
O never be weak; stand in truth and believe;
And seek, as the Lamb, what brings glory within.
Examine your deeds and be cleansed from all sin.

All those who the call to be lights here receive
Must be good examples to those who believe;
With salt always seasoned in all that they do—
Yes, by their works proving their words to be true.

Christ poured out His life unto death just for you,
So count what the cost is to go this way too.
O count what the cost is; yes, count it again:
Despised in this world and rejected of men.

Dear soul, you who truly know God in your heart,
Be glad and rejoice; soon from earth you’ll depart.
Though you’ve tribulation, let nothing amaze.
To spare the elect, God will shorten the days.
