O I know of a way that to glory will lead;
It was opened by Jesus, God’s Son.
And all those who from self-life and death would be freed,
He invites on this pathway to run.

Jesus says that the way is quite narrow, it’s true.
You must deeply acknowledge your sin.
And the gate is so strait, only few will go through,
For you must give up all, Christ to win.

“Of the cup that I drank, you will drink of it too.”
You’ll be baptized with suff’rings and fire.
To become like the Master in all that you do:
It is this that the Lord does require.

Parents, siblings, and wife, children, even your life
Must be hated, the Master did say.
And touch nothing unclean—flee this world and it’s strife;
As His child you’ll be known on life’s way.
