I took up my cross, Lord, to walk in Thy ways

1.
I took up my cross, Lord, to walk in Thy ways;
There dwells in my heart Thine unspeakable peace.
And hid ’neath the stones and the weeds of life’s way
I find many treasures, so precious, each day.
Chorus:
Follow Thee here, whate’er I must bear,
O Jesus, I long just to follow Thee here.
2.
O help me with patience and joy to obey
And follow Thee faithfully, day after day.
The meek are allowed in Thy presence to stand;
From cares and from danger they’re freed by Thy hand.
3.
To seek but Thine honor Thou teachest me, Lord.
Thou dost not deny me a listening heart.
Thy fear shall preserve me till life here doth cease;
Thy laws in my heart grow in strength and increase.
4.
To rest in assurance and triumph by faith,
To know Thy will, Father, is all my delight.
I’ll humbly abide in Thy law and Thy Word;
O teach me to please Thee, my King and my Lord.
