When of old they built the temple

1.
When of old they built the temple, silently the stones were laid.
Perfectly they fit together, as with care each wall was made.
They were hewn outside the camp, and then with hammer, blow on blow,
They were beaten, chipped, and molded in the quarry down below.
2.
Yield to God in all His dealings if you such a stone would be.
He will mold you and transform you, but it takes humility.
When you’re made alive, He’ll use you in His royal temple here.
Soon God’s house will be perfected. Let us walk in godly fear.
3.
Do you see the goal before you? Keep your vision crystal-clear.
Don’t rely upon your feelings when temptation meets you here.
Joy emerges from your suff’rings; through the fire you’ll be made free.
Here in lowly places tested, there you glorified will be.
4.
Soon God’s house will be completed, as He puts each stone in place.
Those who share in Jesus’ suff ’rings are made one through God’s great grace.
See this precious, holy people! One day they will share His throne.
Praise our mighty King and Savior! For this work is His alone!
