Thanks, Lord, that in Thy Word
Thy comfort can be heard.
It tells me, “Fear not, for I am with thee.”
By Thy name I’ve been called.
Thou my right hand wilt hold,
And make a way through the desert for me.

My soul has been distressed.
O may it enter rest;
Jesus, I hope in Thee, thirst for Thy will.
O God, incline Thine ear.
Thou wilt my pleadings hear.
Lord, I will trust Thee, obey, and be still.

When I through waters go,
They will not overflow;
Safely and wisely Thou guidest my way.
Through fire Thou leadest me;
My flesh consumed must be.
Help me to see this and follow, I pray.

A sacrifice for Thee,
O God, I choose to be,
That on the altar my will doth remain—
Only to give my life
Throughout all trials and strife,
Pour out my soul-life; ’twill only bring gain.

Thou art a fortress sure.
Thy mercy will endure.
Into Thine hands, Lord, my life I now place,
Laboring for that rest,
Knowing Thy way is best;
Thou wilt uphold me with power and grace.
