1.
As days slip by, I’m often unmindful that I’ll be
At home soon in my happy destination.
Midst trials and affliction it’s hard at times to see
That soon I’ll leave behind all tribulation.
But though I’m tempted sorely, God’s peace so deep I own.
In Jesus’ blood I’ve boldness to go before His throne
To seek Him for deliv’rance and salvation.

I can’t by being anxious make black or white one hair;
Far less can worry change my situation.
I’ll learn of Him who daily for us His cross did bear,
Thus honor God and stand fast at my station.
My mind is then renewed; I’m transformed there by His grace
When in the Lord I trust—and abide before His face
And quietly receive each exhortation.
(Heb. 5:7-9)

3.
The people I’ll not number, nor seek to know their state.
What trust in You, dear Lord, would that be showing?
In faithfulness I’ll rest, and on You alone I’ll wait,
While pressing on t’ward heaven, never slowing.
Soon life is done—then sorrow and grief will disappear.
With tender love, dear Savior, You’ll wipe away each tear.
I’ll dwell at home with You in joy o’erflowing.

4.
A pilgrim and a stranger upon the earth am I.
My visit here is just of short duration.
From earthly things uproot me, and sever every tie,
So I’m prepared to leave this habitation.
My tongue will then be loosed. I’ll with jubilation sing!
For evermore my eyes will behold You, Lord and King,
Who loved us from before the earth’s creation!
