It is a sorrow great

1.
It is a sorrow great, to see earth’s wretched state,
So filled with need and fear; The night of sin draws near.
We see much grief and woe, and yet by faith we know
That when the night is gone, a glorious Day will dawn.
Chorus:
A wonderful morrow—the end of all sorrow!
A thousand years so blest, of joy and peace and rest.
Summer unwaning, the Prince of Peace reigning,
With love and righteousness, the earth He’ll bless.
2.
There is no peace on earth, but fear from south to north.
We find, when looking east, it comforts not the least.
Though some might think it best, to wait for help from west,
The hopes for peace are vain, till Jesus comes again.
3.
Look up—see round about: A fig tree starts to sprout.
How all the trees appear, shows summer must be near.
God’s Word shall then abound and bless the world around.
With people far and wide God’s pleasure shall abide.
4.
You must be ready found; The trumpet soon will sound.
There’s refuge for the bride; She’ll meet Christ in the sky.
The Antichrist will claim, “The earth is my domain.”
Then comes the Prince of Peace, to make the tumult cease.
