Go on, my soul, with Jesus

1.
Go on, my soul, with Jesus; this is the living way.
Go on in truth and Spirit; his pow’r you’ll have each day.
Go on and die with Jesus! Go on and live with Him,
Who as a lamb was offered and triumphed over sin!
2.
Go on, my soul, with Jesus; ’twill narrow be for you.
Through death this path will lead you; it’s long and rugged too.
Do not draw back from suff’ring; be crucified with Him.
For in life’s many battles the crown of life you win.
3.
Go on, my soul, with Jesus; his footsteps follow here,
And offer up your self-life; give all that you hold dear.
Bear others’ burdens gladly; spread joy in every place.
Then surely you’ll discover the riches of His grace.
4.
Go on, my soul, with Jesus; rejoice in righteousness,
For in the tents of justice dwell peace and happiness.
The pathway of the righteous doth shine as noonday sky.
Upon this way press onward; it leads to home on high.
5.
Go on, my soul, with Jesus; fight for His kingdom here.
Fear not the pow’rs of darkness; trust God, for He is near.
Bear manfully the suff’ring of mockery and shame;
’Twas as a lamb despisèd that Jesus overcame.
6.
Go on, my soul, with Jesus; press on with all your heart
Until He comes to fetch you, and you from earth depart.
Expect that day; be faithful to keep His Word with care.
Then surely He’ll reward you; the crown of life you’ll wear.
7.
Go on, my soul, with Jesus, in faith and hope and love.
Go forth in zeal and patience; seek wisdom from above.
Life’s content thus increases until your course is run.
You’ll then go home rejoicing and dwell with God’s dear Son.
