Our own folly's what defiles us

1.
Our own folly’s what defiles us,
But God’s way is always right.
Blind we are if sin beguiles us
So we lose the Spirit’s light.
But obedience to the truth has
Given you a vision clear,
To be always true to Christ as
On life’s way you follow here.
(Prov. 19:3 | 2 Sam. 22:31)
2.
Our own sin is what will shame us;
Blaming others will not do.
Their mistakes that press, inflame us
Show we have their nature too.
But when evil is rejected
And God’s cleansing is embraced,
Then a profit is collected.
Summer’s fruit of life we taste.
3.
Our own error will defeat us;
It brings only loss for sure.
’Tis our gain when folks mistreat us
If our hearts are always pure.
Don’t surmise about the others;
Hidden things are God’s domain.
Judge yourself and not your brothers.
Transformation you’ll attain.
(1 Pet. 4:15 | Deut. 29:29 | Ps. 94:15 | 1 Cor. 11:31)
4.
Our own godly fear provides us
With a peace and joy unbound.
Thieves may come, but Jesus hides us;
They can’t take what we have found.
If in doing good we’re fervent,
None can harm us anymore.
Christ Himself becomes our servant;
Blessing He’ll on us outpour.
(1 Tim. 4:8; 6:6 | Gal. 6:4 | Ps. 119:165 | 1 Pet. 3:13 | Joh. 13:5, 14)
