Do you want fellowship with the Lord

1.
Do you want fellowship with the Lord?
Then you must part with all that’s of the world.
The Lord resists you if you contend
That you’re a Christian, yet are this world’s friend.
2.
Consider Moses, who knew that he
As son of Pharaoh’s daughter rich would be.
But Egypt’s treasures and gold he spurned
And from his future there in Egypt turned.
3.
He chose a life that he knew so well
Would mean to suffer wrong with Israèl.
Reproach of men was to him but naught,
For only honor from the Lord he sought.
4.
There is a mountain, and to the top
Was Jesus Christ by Satan taken up.
There Satan tempted the Lord, we know;
The glory of the world to Christ he showed.
5.
“Yes, Son of God, this I’ll give to Thee,
If Thou wilt only bow and worship me.”
But Jesus answered with steadfast heart,
“Get hence, O Satan, and from Me depart!”
6.
With words of life, Christ to him replied,
“O thou shalt worship God and none beside.”
Then at this word Satan from Him fled,
And angels ministered to Him instead.
7.
Give God your life; give Him all your heart!
You can’t be happy giving only part.
Forsake the world; your reward will come:
You shall inherit all with heaven’s Son!
