The man of peace, blest of God is he!

1.
The man of peace, blest of God is he!
He hates unrighteousness fervently.
But hand in hand with the God of peace,
He fights till sin does cease.
Chorus:
The Spirit’s mind is life and peace.
This peace comes when we swing the Sword.
In peace we sow fruits of righteousness—
Eternal, our reward.
2.
When Phinehas with the sword struck down
All base resistance right to the ground,
God made a cov’nant of peace with him,
With pow’r of life within.
(Num. 25)
3.
It was for peace that King David waged
The wars of God from an early age.
He passed a kingdom on to his son
Where peace had truly won.
4.
The Prince of Peace, our Almighty Lord,
Will smite the earth with a two-edged Sword.
A thousand years we’ll have peace and rest.
The earth will then be blest.
5.
The Spirit’s Sword we will also wield,
As we press on through the flesh with zeal.
If someone wants to keep flesh alive,
The Sword will ’gainst him strive.
6.
Let none with guile take your victor’s prize
By false humility or by lies,
While they themselves are puffed up and blind;
They have a carnal mind.
7.
They think for peace our dear Master came—
The Lord and Christ, whom we here proclaim.
But no, He brought unto us a Sword,
If we believe His Word.
8.
The man of peace, we from this will learn,
Must swing his Sword so that peace he’ll earn.
Just this humility will suffice
For those who follow Christ.
