490. Testimony of J.O. Smith Nesbyen Conference 1937

Rom. 7:4-6. Either we are in the Spirit or we are in the flesh. If we waver we can easily end up in the flesh. We do not just remain there passively, we are driven to death. Rom. 8:13-14.

I cannot be in the Holy Spirit without It having an effect on me. I cannot live for days and years without being made alive by the Spirit. That is why it is absolutely vital to abide in the Holy Spirit.

The more spiritual we become, the more our body is presented as a sacrifice for God.

To live and serve in the Spirit is the only thing that gives us a future.

We need servants in our days. I want to encourage everyone, and especially the young people, to exercise yourself to abide in the Holy Spirit and to serve in the Holy Spirit.

Do not get involved in politics. Abide in quietness. Let God work in you and speak with individuals in such a way that God’s Word can gain entrance and do it’s work.

There are many men and women here. There are many women whose lives have been extremely valuable.

Let us be diligent to be in the Spirit here at the conference and then in our daily lives. Then we will experience that we have lived a fruitful life. It is not a question of being able to speak well; it is not a question of what you can manage on your own. Abide in the Spirit and walk in the Spirit.

Those who live in the flesh cannot lead anyone to righteousness.
