See God's witnesses who've trod

1.
See God’s witnesses who’ve trod
Here on earth the paths of God.
They have suffered patiently,
Bowed in deep humility.
For their toil here they were given
Full reward by God in heaven—
/: Godly heroes true! :/
2.
Enoch—man of God was he—
Walked with God so faithfully.
To “Christ’s death” he entered in.
God’s good pleasure he did win.
Born of God with life so hidden,
Enoch, home to heav’n was bidden.
/: God took him away. :/
3.
Noah in the Lord believed—
Built an ark; God’s Word received.
Rains and flood the Lord then sent.
Over earth the judgment went.
On the ark earth’s hope was riding—
O’er the waves, escape providing.
Floods receded and
Noah farmed God’s land.
4.
There was Abraham, God’s friend—
Gave his son—got back again
What he sacrificed on earth—
Many peoples brought to birth.
While in Canaan’s land sojourning,
He for heaven’s home was yearning—
Homeland of the bride—
He’ll as guest abide.
5.
Joseph knew his God the Lord,
Therefore suffered for the Word.
He in Egypt was abased.
Then as ruler there was placed.
He remembered God was reigning—
Sought the crown that’s worth obtaining,
In Jerusalem, heaven’s blessed home.
6.
Moses unto God drew near;
He was bold, had godly fear.
Through his pow’r in God he brought
The exalted things to naught.
Haughty hearts to Moses yielded.
He bore grief, yet pow’r he wielded.
Bravery untold—as Christ’s servant, bold.
7.
David, like an olive tree
In God’s house—so fair was he—
Slew Goliath, unafraid,
Was by Absalom betrayed.
He was humbled and exalted.
When abased he never halted—
Chose the way of peace, God alone to please.
8.
Christ, the greatest Hero came—
First and last, O praise His name!
He fills all in all, and He
Chose a bride, His own to be.
Heroes who in Him are hidden
To His wedding feast are bidden.
Through His death the bride gains His life inside.
