Jesus, 'tis You I will follow

1.
“Jesus, ’tis You I will follow,”
once did a scribe to Him say.
/: This statement was made without knowing
narrow and hard was the way. :/
2.
Foxes have holes they can hide in;
each little bird has a nest.
/: The Son of Man has not a refuge
where He can go to and rest. :/
3.
Scribes were by Jesus confounded:
He took the path that was low.
/: They saw not that dying to self-life
caused heaven’s blessings to flow. :/
4.
Many say, “I’ll follow Jesus—
wholly to Him I’ll hold fast.”
/: But few choose the cup of His suff’rings—
few want to drink to the last. :/
5.
Count what the cost is to follow
so you can finish the race.
/: Cast off every weight and what binds you;
nothing should slow down your pace. :/
6.
God’s crown of life is awaiting
if you have fought for the Lord,
/: And blessed are those who have conquered!
Jesus will be their reward. :/
