To be more humble is our greatest need now

1.
To be more humble is our greatest need now;
We need much deeper, deeper down to go.
What can we e’er accomplish on high places,
When Christ Himself went through the valley low?
Chorus:
O how we need to be established here;
We need to constantly go down each day.
The spirit of the Antichrist approaches;
To him the proud will soon be drawn away.
2.
What has this dark and evil world to offer?
Why lust for earthly things that have no worth?
For we have Christ, in whom dwells all God’s fullness;
More worth is He than anything on earth.
3.
God gave us Christ, the One who is our life here;
Will He not give us all things with His Son?
The Word of life to us He has committed;
He’ll fill our need in glory, every one.
4.
Down in the depths we find the hidden treasures;
Down in the depths are wisdom, peace, and grace.
’Tis there alone we understand life’s meaning;
God’s hidden glory’s in that secret place.
5.
We know so well that we are called to suffer
And by the Spirit mortify our sin—
The cup of suff’ring patiently to empty
Down in the depths, in fellowship with Him.
