This dark world we leave behind us; it is naught but emptiness.
Now we follow our dear Savior on the paths of righteousness.
The way of life we go; the Shepherd’s voice we know.
To follow is our choice; we’ll heed no other voice.

O what glorious reality, true happiness in life—
To be freed from Satan’s bondage, from anxiety and strife.
This way of joy we tread, with Jesus as our Head.
We seek His kingdom first; He quenches all our thirst.

In each trial on this way, then in our Savior we confide.
He gives help in time of need that we from sin are purified.
For He’s our faithful guide, who also has been tried.
His way gives liberty from sin and misery.

Yes, our joy is in the Lord and in the fellowship we share,
And together we are knit as we each others’ burdens bear.
This world knows nothing of such fellowship and love;
The Spirit makes us one as Father and the Son.

5.

O the outward man will perish and the world will pass away,
But by God’s eternal Word we are renewed from day to day.
The Word is Christ the Lord, and He’s our true reward.
With Jesus we will be for all eternity.
