I know a land beyond compare!

1.
I know a land beyond compare!
No evil can cause trouble there,
Where perfect joy and peace are found.
Now to this land, I’m homeward bound.
Chorus:
Farewell, Farewell! I’ve said goodbye
To things of earth, and cut each tie.
My faith is firm, I’m on my way!
“Farewell!” with all my heart I say!
2.
God spoke to Abraham by name
Who then obeyed, came not to shame;
He, in his tent, rejoiced that he
Could, in the Spirit, Zion see.
3.
Remember Lot, poor man, alas,
Deceived by watered fields of grass—
A home near Sodom therefore sought,
But suff’ring to his soul this brought.
4.
Now don’t forget Lot’s wife, my friend.
Remember her most grievous end.
She fled with Lot, but then she turned;
Her heart still clung to things that burned.
5.
Though here on earth I loss may bear,
Eternal is my home up there!
In hope and faith, I Zion see.
There is no turning back for me!
