War and battle is on earth our calling

1.
War and battle is on earth our calling;
Then an overcomer’s life we’ll know.
None will gain the victor’s prize by stalling.
Life and honor-all must go!
You will win the crown of life who conquer.
Yes, hold out! You’ll reap eternal gain.
Jesus’ throne you’ll share with Him forever.
Yes, with Him eternally you’ll reign.
2.
To obtain the victor’s prize so glorious,
Then you always need faith’s mighty shield.
In the warriors’ ranks each one’s victorious,
And not one to sin does yield.
Those who overcome endure the fire;
In the heat of battle they press on.
They do not slack off—they’ve one desire.
They search out new ground to tread upon.
3.
Burn with fervent zeal for God within you—
Pure in heart that God be glorified—
So in truth you always can continue
As His vessel, sanctified.
Those who conquer have a heav’nly vision.
Here on earth as strangers they will be.
Toil and battles, all will be forgotten
When we reach what we by faith did see.
