We’ve received living faith in our Savior
And the work Jesus finished on earth.
/: And we openly make the confession
That all else is just void of all worth. :/

We do not have a “faith” like so many
That is merely in words that we say.
/: Living faith in our hearts is abiding,
Which gives vict’ry in trials, come what may. :/

Just as James who denounced very strongly
So-called “faith” without virtue or deed,
/: In the same upright way we reject it.
We delight in God’s laws which we heed. :/

4.

Boasting, flatt’ry, and prattle can never
Meet the need in our hearts God has stirred.
/: No! We must ask ourselves if we truly
In our lives measure up to God’s Word. :/

5.

We have faith in the work Jesus finished;
For this true living faith, God we praise!
/: This is faith that is evident always;
’Tis a faith that each action displays. :/

6.

Are you dead—crucified with Christ Jesus?
Has this faith become living in you?
/: The old Adam is put out of action;
In your life this will prove to be true. :/

7.

But when wrath, love of money, complaining,
Or such things still come forth, then it’s plain
/: All such “faith” is a farce—we denounce it,
And this folly the world will disdain. :/
