David slew the bear and lion

1.
David slew the bear and lion,
And he burned with zeal for Zion
/: Went out to the battlefield,
There Goliath’s death was sealed. :/
2.
From the time he was a boy here,
David was a valiant warrior—
/: Strove for God throughout his days;
In the camp he would not laze. :/
3.
He would never be encumbered
With the ones who slept and slumbered.
/: For his God with zeal he warred—
Always ready for his Lord. :/
4.
Let us battle now as he did!
Zeal to conquer sin is needed!
/: Go by faith in God and smite
All that ’gainst the cross would fight! :/
