Our all-wise God sent His decree:
All of the captives now can be free!
Bondage has long enough shackled you.
Lay hold of courage so you can break through!
Blest is each soul who is freed.

Though there’ve been chains binding your hands,
Spirit of wisdom breaks all the bands.
It is by sin that you have been bound;
That’s why discouragement weighs the soul down.
Thanks that each fetter is loosed!

No matter what barrier is found,
Spirit of wisdom cannot be bound.
Nothing can stop it, nothing deter.
Freely it’s able to move and to stir
All who possess it within!

4.

Glorious call, glorious call!
Freedom from sin, yes, free from it all!
If every law of life you will do—
Sent from the God of all wisdom to you—
Then you will truly be free!

If you’re on land, if you’re at sea,
With holy fire your heart burns so free—
Nothing to limit, hinder, or tie,
Easily able to laugh or to cry—
Freely the Spirit now works!

6.

You can be still; you can speak out—
No more controlled by sin or by doubt.
Now all God’s will is precious to you.
Where’er the way may lead, you go there too.
Gladly you walk in His steps!

7.

Comfort so true! Comfort so great!
God will each upright soul liberate
From all the bands and fetters of sin.
God’s Holy Spirit of wisdom within
Lifts us like eagles to soar!
