1.
Teach us, dear God, to number all our days on earth
And live each one as if it were our last.
Lord, give us grace to use each opportunity
To seek Thy wisdom ere this day is past.
Give us a heart that’s pure and full of noble thoughts,
To bless the others in their hour of need,
To show them love and serve them in humility—
The life of Christ to manifest in word and deed.
2.
We thank Thee, Lord, for giving us another day
To walk this earth and serve Thy people still.
We yield our lives a living sacrifice to Thee,
With minds renewed to prove Thy perfect will.
Help us to watch and pray so we redeem the time
And live for others’ good while we draw breath.
O blessed life, no cares or thoughts to please ourselves;
Upon this way Thy Spirit frees from sin and death.
To walk this earth and serve Thy people still.
We yield our lives a living sacrifice to Thee,
With minds renewed to prove Thy perfect will.
Help us to watch and pray so we redeem the time
And live for others’ good while we draw breath.
O blessed life, no cares or thoughts to please ourselves;
Upon this way Thy Spirit frees from sin and death.
3.
We do not know how many days remain to us
To heed Thy Word and keep each law with care.
We long to hear the angel’s voice, the trumpet’s sound,
And with the saints to meet Thee in the air.
Although no man can say when Thy return shall be,
We know for sure the Day is drawing near;
So may we use these precious days to gather oil
And fill our vessels and our lamps in godly fear.
To heed Thy Word and keep each law with care.
We long to hear the angel’s voice, the trumpet’s sound,
And with the saints to meet Thee in the air.
Although no man can say when Thy return shall be,
We know for sure the Day is drawing near;
So may we use these precious days to gather oil
And fill our vessels and our lamps in godly fear.
