Rise with zeal, O Zion's daughter

1.
Rise with zeal, O Zion’s daughter,
Why remain among the dead?
Why still wander round in Babel
In your anguish, seeking bread?
Now the paths to Zion languish—
For you’ve wandered far away.
Zion weeps and grieves with sorrow
While in foreign lands you stray.
2.
Be not tossed by winds of doctrine.
They’re like clouds that have no rain.
Though you give all your possessions,
Unfulfilled you’ll still remain.
Long enough the harlot’s wine glass
Filled with wrath you’ve had to drain.
Long enough you have been blinded
By false priests who seek for gain.
3.
From the heart repent completely!
Break each band! From sin be freed!
Pray to God to send His Spirit;
As your Teacher He will lead.
On the path of light press forward
T’ward your home with Christ your Lord—
Till the day your battle’s over,
And you reach your blest reward.
4.
Then the Judge, your rightful Father,
On that glorious Day you’ll meet,
And your Mediator, Jesus,
He who bore our sins, you’ll greet.
Angel throngs, the hosts of heaven,
Jesus’ Church—each firstborn one—
Will forever dwell together,
Home in glory with God’s Son.
Rise with zeal, O Zion’s daughter;
Bring to mind your glory true.
Climb the Mountain in the Spirit,
Then your rightful home you’ll view.
