Thanks for each trial and cross that You've given

1.
Thanks for each trial and cross that You’ve given;
Thanks for each fire You’ve ignited, Lord in heaven.
Thanks that through darkness and shadows of night
You’ve led me with wisdom to much clearer light.
2.
Thanks that each step on the way leads me down, Lord.
Thanks that my tenderest points of need You’ve found, Lord.
Thanks that my self-life to ruin was brought.
Each stone in Your temple through testing is wrought.
3.
Thanks, Lord, for grace that You test and You prove me.
Strong is Your love—in its power naught can move me.
All that’s of self must be met with the Sword.
Your wisdom is boundless, O Savior and Lord.
4.
Thanks for Your knowledge, Your wisdom, and power.
Thanks for Your peace midst my tears in trial’s hour.
Thanks for the hope You have quickened in me:
When trials have ended, Your bride I will be.
