Awake! O blessed bride of Christ

1.
Awake! O blessed bride of Christ;
Your lamps make clean and bright.
Behold, He cometh! Go now forth
To meet Him, for ’tis night.
O bow your knee and watchful be;
Your Bridegroom soon you’ll see.
Chorus:
O be among the five
Who humble are and wise.
With vessels filled, their lamps are bright;
In Jesus they delight.
Be faithful to the end;
Make haste—pause not, my friend,
For Christ’s return is drawing nigh;
We’ll meet Him in the sky.
2.
Deny yourself, take up your cross,
And walk where Jesus trod!
And from His table freely eat,
Which is the Word of God.
In patience go this way so low;
Then righteous fruits will grow.
3.
Love not the world; its pride forsake.
Its glory soon is past.
But let God’s Word be flesh in you;
Forever this will last.
To sin be dead; make Christ your Head.
God’s will shall be your bread.
4.
Soon Jesus’ marriage feast is here;
The bride will radiant be.
With righteous deeds she weaves the dress
She’ll wear eternally.
God’s fire obtain to cleanse each stain,
His pleasure thus to gain.
