1.
No victor’s prize if we will not fight the fight,
No crown if we run not the race,
No likeness with Jesus’ own glorious life
If we’re not conformed to His death.
He opened the way for vict’ry each day
And bids us, “O come, follow Me.”
So flee from the snare of your lusts every day;
Seek righteousness, truth, all the way.
(Rom. 8:17 | Phil. 3:10 | 1 Pet. 2:21 | Heb. 6:20)
No crown if we run not the race,
No likeness with Jesus’ own glorious life
If we’re not conformed to His death.
He opened the way for vict’ry each day
And bids us, “O come, follow Me.”
So flee from the snare of your lusts every day;
Seek righteousness, truth, all the way.
(Rom. 8:17 | Phil. 3:10 | 1 Pet. 2:21 | Heb. 6:20)
Chorus:
O let us hasten on!
This way will lead us home.
The way for us is not unclear;
We see His footsteps here.
O let us hasten on!
This way will lead us home.
Reproach and shame we do not fear;
We follow Jesus here.
This way will lead us home.
The way for us is not unclear;
We see His footsteps here.
O let us hasten on!
This way will lead us home.
Reproach and shame we do not fear;
We follow Jesus here.
2.
O you who are called to this glorious life—
As short as a vapor, your day;
So run and be cleansed from each sin and each weight
That draws you from Jesus away.
Surrender your all, your life and your will;
In bondage to Him you’ll be free.
He taught us the way of obedience to go.
Be humble and you’ll reach the goal.
As short as a vapor, your day;
So run and be cleansed from each sin and each weight
That draws you from Jesus away.
Surrender your all, your life and your will;
In bondage to Him you’ll be free.
He taught us the way of obedience to go.
Be humble and you’ll reach the goal.
3.
The upright in heart make their steps firm and sure;
To God they are faithful and true.
If faith has no works, it is barren and dead;
The Master’s good Word we must do.
He served and He fought; to death He was brought.
He gave all He was and He had.
Obedience to God was His bread and His aim,
Till death on the cross with its shame.
To God they are faithful and true.
If faith has no works, it is barren and dead;
The Master’s good Word we must do.
He served and He fought; to death He was brought.
He gave all He was and He had.
Obedience to God was His bread and His aim,
Till death on the cross with its shame.
4.
We walk in the law of perfection so free
And only desire to obey.
True rest can be found in the Master’s own yoke;
The cross gives us joy on our way.
Endure in the strife; soon ends our short life—
We’ll reach our eternal reward!
United with Jesus, our dear, faithful Friend,
We’ll never be parted again.
And only desire to obey.
True rest can be found in the Master’s own yoke;
The cross gives us joy on our way.
Endure in the strife; soon ends our short life—
We’ll reach our eternal reward!
United with Jesus, our dear, faithful Friend,
We’ll never be parted again.
