Take the helm, Lord Jesus, guide me

1.
Take the helm, Lord Jesus, guide me
Over life’s tempestuous sea.
You who foreordained my pathway,
Guide my boat, my Captain be.
Chorus:
On life’s sea are many dangers,
Hidden reefs and crashing waves;
Yet my boat You safely pilot;
Your strong arm upholds and saves.
2.
Lord, when mighty waves surround me
Mounting upwards to the sky,
Breaking on the rocks around me,
Help me then, Lord; hear my cry.
3.
Take the helm in Your strong hands, Lord;
Through the tempest guide my boat.
Without You I’d surely perish;
Faith alone keeps me afloat.
4.
Soon my voyage will be over,
And the storms of life will cease.
I’ll dock safely in the harbor,
Evermore to dwell in peace.
