Run in the race, friend be bold and rejoice!

1.
Run in the race, friend; be bold and rejoice!
All things for you are prepared.
Send up your incense with jubilant voice.
Faithful is He who’s declared,
“All things are possible; only believe.”
God the Almighty with humble souls lives—
They who just follow and do not ask “Where?”
When their own lives they must give.
2.
Do not draw back, now; be strong like a man!
Be filled with love that’s divine.
Patience will bring perfect works in the end;
Leave all that hinders behind.
Even in trials, rejoice in God’s ways;
This is the vict’ry that’s worthy of praise.
Great is the content and rest you will find;
Wisdom will guide all your days.
3.
Strengthened by God in our will to do right,
We’ll by His power succeed.
None grow discouraged or faint in the fight
Who to the Truth will take heed.
Daydreams and feelings are quite useless here,
Where we must fight ’gainst the pow’rs of the air.
Turn from all folly; be flint hard ’gainst sin,
Steadfast, prevailing in prayer.
4.
Time here is short with its suff’ring and strife;
Joy is eternal with God.
Blest is the man who has used well his life,
Suffered for God’s holy Word.
Here on the earth we shall taste our reward,
Yet greater glory in heaven is stored—
With our dear Savior and all of the saints—
Blessed the rest evermore.
