Jesus, guide my every step here daily,

Who are burdened down with need and woe.
In the Spirit to abide is needful
If in the Master’s footsteps we would go.

With his “I” and “me” and “mine” on earth;
Just for pleasure he his life is living,
Gathering nothing of eternal worth.

Open Thou mine eyes to see, O Jesus.
Make me meek and tender as Thyself.
Keep me humble, Lord, and always lowly,
That I may nevermore live for myself.

Teach me, Jesus, all my days to number;
Just a moment in this house I am.
Soon my days are past and gone forever;
O may I not have lived them here in vain.
