Short are your days, your lifetime

1.
Short are your days, your lifetime,
Like flowers of the grass.
:/: Short is your toil and sorrow;
Soon will life’s harvest pass. :/:
2.
Therefore you must not murmur
When time goes slowly by.
:/: Think, you could quickly perish
And in your folly die. :/:
3.
Therefore to God be thankful;
Life unto you He gave.
:/: Live only to His glory,
Ere you go to your grave. :/:
4.
Time is so short and precious;
Let it not slip away!
:/: You have received your talent!
Work while it still is day. :/:
5.
When your life’s course is finished,
After you’ve run your race,
:/: O that you then may savor
Righteousness’ sweet embrace! :/:
