O my heart is beating with great joyfulness

1.
O my heart is beating with great joyfulness;
I am filled with praises and with happiness.
From deep inside of me they’re flowing,
For from bonds of darkness Jesus set me free.
I extol my Lord for what He’s done for me!
How I praise His name! He gave me liberty.
Naught can stop me now from forward going.
2.
A new day of gladness for my soul has dawned;
All the grief and anguish like a mist is gone,
And years of desert wand’rings ended.
I am so amazed that things this way would go
That I almost wonder, “Is it really so?”
That all things are changed? But it is true, I know.
It’s beyond what I have comprehended.
3.
Who can e’er explain what God has done for me?
For my eyes were blind before, but now I see.
He gave me sight and clear direction,
And the life I lived before was emptiness.
Through the cross I’ve found the way to blessedness,
And the devil’s now exposed and powerless.
He’s lost his cov’ring and protection.
4.
O my weary soul can now in rest abide;
With the Bread of Life my hunger’s satisfied.
My thirst is quenched with streams so living.
What I never even dared to hope before,
I can gain in Jesus Christ, and so much more.
Far beyond what I could ask He has in store.
All His promises, they are life-giving.
5.
I can’t thank You, Lord, enough for what You do!
And to give my life, dear Lord, I learn from You,
Just as Your own life You have given.
May my whole life testify to what You say,
Light and salt for You I’ll be upon my way
And a sacrifice for You from day to day.
I will thus lay hold of life from heaven.
