Come, behold in the Spirit a Man full of pain

1.
Come, behold in the Spirit a Man full of pain.
From His crib to His grave you can see:
Always forward His course as God’s own precious Lamb;
In the temple a lion was He.
See His faithfulness great; never once did He fail.
’Twas to save you He came; ’twas for you He prevailed.
Come, behold, on the cross, God’s own Son.
2.
See His poor, lowly birth; you from this can discern
That all glitter and pomp is deceit.
See, at home as a child He obedience learned;
There He served, for God’s will was His meat.
As a sacrifice always His body He gave;
To the Holy of Holies He opened the way.
By His blood we with boldness go in.
3.
Though God’s Son, He obedience learned on life’s way,
Was perfected through sufferings here.
With strong crying and tears, to His Father He prayed
And was heard for His great godly fear.
Thus to all who His Word both believe and obey,
He’s the source of salvation; He’s opened the way.
All in Him is both Yea and Amen.
