Thus I Will Bless You While I Live
“Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.” Ps. 63:3-4.
David praised God while he lived—throughout his life; what a disgrace if we did not do the same, we who have been so thoroughly instructed in the death of Christ. Many things can hinder rejoicing, such as meddling in other people’s lives, or comparing ministries, spiritual gifts, and finances. Satan can mix all of this together into a brew that silences our praise to God. The death of Christ is meant to work over all that comes from the flesh, so we are set free. And in that freedom come joy and songs of thanksgiving.
Some weed killers are effective, but they don’t kill all the weeds. Not so for us, who can always carry about in the body the death of Christ. 2 Cor. 4:10. The death of Christ works on all “weeds.” Every time!
When things are difficult, and we feel anxious and can’t see the solution right away, let us just be calm and let some time pass. Then the Spirit comes and reveals the evil that is in the flesh, and the “light from the east” brings rest so that we can see clearly in which direction the arrow should be shot. 2 Kings 13:17. Then we can act in a manner worthy of a servant of Christ, and we know afterwards, with deep certainty, that the help came from God, who is worthy of honor and thanks, now and for all eternity.
To seek honor is to follow Satan’s blueprint for destroying fellowship, and we become unable to praise the Lord with a pure heart. So we must avoid that like the plague. And bringing into the brotherhood the judgmental mindset inherited from our forefathers does not contribute to praise in a spiritual house, which the Lord acknowledges as His own. Into the death of Christ with it!
On the new earth, we will praise God without sin in the flesh. I’m looking forward to that! What a day that will be, with songs of praise and music like many waters. It will be the song of Moses and the Lamb. Rev. 15:3. And the bride learns that song here. Ch. 14:3.
But just think, we can praise God with a pure heart while we are still in the valley of tears, if it is true that we are practicing the death of Christ. Let us never be content until this song of praise resounds within us.
