The Spirit of Truth

The Spirit of truth is to convict us of sin because we do not believe in Jesus Christ, because we do not believe His Word and the apostles’ words! John 16:8-9. In other words, the fact that we do not believe is the main sin, or the sum total of all sins. The explanation for it is this: If we had believed all His words, we would have been set free from all conscious sin; we would have gained the victory over all sin and put off all sin as we so clearly read in the Scriptures.

If we do not believe the Spirit of truth and the words of truth, then the only thing that is true when it concerns salvation is: we are big sinners!

We can learn very much from this word. Just think: to be convicted of sin simply because we do not believe, not because we lie or are unrighteous or bear a grudge against someone! “But without faith it is impossible to please Him [God]!” Heb. 11:6.
