Exceedingly Great and Precious Promises

2 Peter 1

Which promises are they? They are the promises we have received so that we by them can partake of divine nature “having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

However, it is impossible to escape the corruption without hating the lusts. Then we give all diligence to add to our faith virtue . . . and to brotherly love, love to all men.

“For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

When we read further, we can see how important this is. It was Peter’s desire to remind them constantly of these things for as long as he lived, so they would never forget it. “Knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. Moreover, I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.”

Let us view this matter just as seriously so we can have an abundant entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Who of us can truly say that he has viewed this matter as seriously as Peter did? Who actually believes in partaking of divine nature? If we are to partake of it, we must also believe it. Many people have read it, but have you met anyone who has believed it and has constantly worked with it so that others could also come to faith in it and be zealous to add virtue to their faith?

We have experienced revival to conversion, which is a great glory. However, it is a far greater glory to experience that people praise God because they shall become partakers of divine nature. Then we will also become far happier!
