Two Springs (Two Intakes), but Only Just One Mouth (One Source)
James 3:10-12
Out of the mouth proceed both good and evil. Since the same spring cannot bring forth fresh and bitter water, the mouth (the heart) must of necessity be in contact with two springs. Therefore there must be intakes from two places. James says, “My brethren, these things ought not to be so.” What must be done about it? Stop the one intake!!! Can it be stopped? Yes. Romans 6:6 and Galatians 2:20 stop it. However, since this is not a mechanical faucet but one that is stopped by faith, it doesn’t just stay closed once it has been closed. It must be kept in this closed position by a continual, faithful walk in faith, hour by hour.
At the moment a person becomes unfaithful, there will immediately be an intake from another spring—from the flesh.
