The Peace of the Strong Man
“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace.” Luke 11:21.
No one is more adept at maintaining peace in the midst of his madness than a strong man. People avoid him at all costs. The strong man can think his peace is divine because no one is able to overcome him. Everyone gets out of his way, so his own thoughts exalt him even more.
“But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted . . . .” Luke 11:22. Then the strong man is no longer capable of maintaining his peace through his own strength.
Examine yourself, therefore, to see if your peace is the peace of your own strength, or if you truly have found the peace of God that will not be taken from you.
