“Therefore Take Heed That the Light Which Is in You Is Not Darkness.”
If a person does not receive a love for the truth and submit to it quickly, the light that he defends and imagines he has will become darkness. The more that people fight for their imagined light, the greater their darkness becomes. Their thinking is corrupted by their ambition and their desire to always be the winner. Sometimes they fight for years in pitch darkness, trying to win a victory that can never be theirs.
That is why this Word of exhortation applies to all of us: “Take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.”
“When your eye is healthy, the whole body is full of light. But when it is sick, then the whole body is darkness.” Verse 34 (Norw.).
The body is the church. If your eye is sick, the whole church becomes dark, and all you will see is everyone’s faults and shortcomings—except your own. If your eye is healthy, the whole church is light. Love will cover a multitude of sins, and you will nourish hope and faith—even for the most wretched.
How is your vision? Is the body light, or is it darkness?
