The Ministry of Glory
Having been reconciled by Christ’s death, we receive salvation through His life. Rom. 5:10. This salvation through life is the revelation of the eternal, mighty life force which is able to blast the way out of death into perfection—the Father.
The ministry of condemnation was glorious; only something glorious could bring judgment over things that are corruptible and could cause Moses’ face to radiate. This glorious radiance faded, however, when sin was judged in the flesh, because that produced a glory that penetrated into the earthen vessel to root out everything that was not in harmony with glory.
God has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, “not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Cor. 3:6.
Think: Ministers of the Spirit, ministers of the new covenant, God’s co-workers, a ministry within the body, the church. What a beautiful ministry! And what opposition it provokes! Sin in the flesh rises up with a vengeance against these new life forces when they are preached. People feel that they are completely within their rights when they seek to preserve their life in this world. No one wants to die. No one wants to abstain from anything. Everything is just fine as it is. People despise the ministry of glory because they cannot comprehend it with their carnal senses. However, those who receive this life of glory know and understand the power and glory that is in this life. This life produces a love for God and for one’s neighbor. We put off the old man and put on the new man. These are mysteries of godliness, and they are revealed in the Spirit. God gives the Spirit according to His own will. Heb. 2:4. God sees who has an upright heart, those who are hungry for something of God—who earnestly yearn that His good Spirit will lead them and help them discover more of the glories in the light. To him who has will more be given. We receive our heavenly inheritance after a death has taken place to deliver us from sins that were committed under the first covenant. Heb. 9:15. Now He has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. Not only that! He has also given us the ministry of reconciliation. Rom. 5:11. The ministry of glory is not a ministry of redemption from sins committed under the first covenant. That ministry is called the ministry of death. The ministry of glory goes hand in hand with the second Adam who has become a life-giving spirit. It is a ministry in the perfect law of liberty, a ministry with an unveiled face, because its glory will not pass away. It is the ministry of mediation, the ministry of the Son bringing us to the Father. He is the very essence of all that is perfect, and everything that is unfulfilled and incomplete longs and yearns for Him.
