Unity

Unity

Some people form groups based on adult baptism or meeting formats, while others form groups around prominent spiritual personalities. But now as a result of the most recent “revival,” people are trying to unite all of these different groups. Everyone within these different groups who has participated in this revival is supposed to unite and demonstrate their unity. It has been suggested that they all wear an emblem with the letter “U.” Everyone is to remain in their own group, but once a month, for example, they will get together and discuss topics on which they previously agreed. No disagreements are to be voiced. The meeting should preferably be held on neutral ground.

In other words, people have forsaken the fellowship described in the Scriptures, the fellowship that was to be the fruit of the baptism of the Spirit—namely, that if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another. Instead of fellowship in the Spirit that comes by walking in the light, they want to form a carnal unity based on the baptism of the Spirit and the gift of tongues. As long as people are “in the revival,” they can proudly display their emblem with its large “U.” Even in the world today, people refrain from such external decorations, but these people seem to need them!

We have heard more than enough about “the revival” and “world-wide outpouring of the Spirit.” What we desperately need at this point is wisdom from God in order to guide this revival safely into port. Thought castles and grandiose ideas that contradict the knowledge of God are useless. Everything in the spiritual realm is governed by spiritual laws, just as all of nature is governed by natural laws. If you want to provide guidance and contribute something, you must first devote your heart to understand and seek God for wisdom, which He will give willingly, without reproach.

People talk about being “completely purified” and about having received “the full Pentecostal baptism,” etc. From now on, let us strive to partake of what Paul prayed that God would grant to the Ephesians and Colossians—namely, to be filled with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God. Eph. 1:17; Col. 2:1-3. This will indeed save us from much folly which otherwise, like it or not, is inescapable.
