In Jesus’ Blood We Have Boldness to Enter Into the Sanctuary
When you seek God in prayer, you will notice that there may be, as it were, a wall in front of you so that you cannot fully give your heart to prayer. Instead of prayer, you meet the emptiness of your own heart. By pressing in to God, you will first meet the things that have hindered your deep communion with God. However, if you persevere in prayer, you will soon press through the emptiness of your heart, and you will enter into God’s fullness in which prayer becomes like an anointing over your life. Stay there!
Such is the case when you seek God for wisdom. Then you will first meet that which has kept you away from wisdom; namely, your own folly. It is like a wall in your life. You think about and reach out for wisdom, but all you lay hold of is your own, empty thoughts. Do as you did with prayer. Press in past your emptiness, and you will meet the fullness of God’s thoughts, which will fill your mind like refreshing balsam.
When you seek God for love, you will meet your self-love; you see your selfish deeds; you do not understand how you can do what Paul says: Be careful to maintain good works. Tit. 3:8. If you strive in your own strength, the result will be only bondage. Do as you did with prayer: press in—past your self-love that fills you. Within you will find God’s love for you which He pours out over your life as a serving spirit. Then you will discover that the works which your eye did not see before are clearly and simply prepared for you, and then you don’t hesitate to serve.
Seek to press into God if your heart is filled with unrest and you have no peace. Only when you press into quietness will you truly notice your unrest. David says, “Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.” Ps. 131:2. Get your soul to be quiet. There is silence in the Holiest. In Jesus’ blood we have boldness to enter in. Heb. 10:19. The noise is outside; silence is within. Outside is the spirit of restlessness; within is peace and rest. Let us be diligent to enter into this rest. Heb. 4. And abide there.
Within—in the sanctuary—your walk must be in purity. The Lord guards the paths of justice. Ungodliness is not allowed to dwell in His presence. Just as you rest in His sanctuary, so you must walk in holiness, and all your works will have their fountains in Him who speaks to your heart in that great quietness. In the sanctuary we rest in God, and our words and deeds will proceed from the sanctuary.
Press in, in the blood of Jesus!
