Blessed

“He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.” 1 John 2:10.

“Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.” Ps. 119:165.

He who loves God’s law and his brother, is in rest, in the light, in God, and is blessed. He cannot be harmed by anything; on the contrary, everything serves him for the best. He is immovable, invincible; he sees the invisible things and rejoices with a perfect joy in sufferings and tribulations when his earthly vessel is being broken down.

Only two things can bring us out of this state: If we harm somebody, and if somebody harms us. We can see that if the two above-quoted verses abide in us and we in them; i.e., if they are our life, then we abide in this blessed state. These two verses taken together clearly express what is written in Philippians 3:16 (let us walk in the same steps). These are the steps in which those who are mature, or perfect (pure) according to their conscience, are called to walk. The above-mentioned state cannot be maintained outside this position of faith: crucified with Christ. Gal. 2:20. Notice how often Paul speaks about the cross in his letter to the Galatians (2:20; 3:1; 5:11,24; 6:12,14). Also notice his concluding remark: “From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.” Ch. 6:17. This indicates the cross of Christ (the position of faith “crucified with Christ”). See also 2 Corinthians 4:10: “Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus . . . .” Also Philippians 3:10: “Being conformed to Him in His death.” Read also 1 Peter 2:24: “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree.”
