511. New Year’s Conference Cancelled 1940
We had already rented the hall for the conference, but we decided that it was best to cancel it due to the curfew. The people we had rented it from were very understanding.
So we will all have to celebrate New Year by ourselves as best we can. This is the most practical thing to do under the current circumstances. And God will bless the friends wherever they may be.
In the past year (1940), the following three beloved brothers have gone home to God as casualties of war:
Chief Gunnery Officer Bjarne A. Olsen
Medical Officer Trygve Berg
Pilot Otto Baltzersen
The first two were on P/S Eidsvold in Narvik when it was sunk on April 9. Brother Baltzersen was a pilot on a private ship which went down on November 3.
May God bless their memory and their surviving relatives.
I wish all the readers of the paper a blessed New Year.
