465. Easter Conference 1934

This was an amazing conference, different from any previous conference. We had already been having prayer meetings and pressing powerfully into God for approximately one month beforehand. Many of the young brothers in Horten had been filled with God’s Spirit and spoke in tongues. They also prayed for the gift of healing. Then Maundy Thursday and Good Friday came. Both these days had already been set aside for men’s meetings. So brothers came from Fredrikstad, Oslo, Sandefjord, and some other places. People labored and battled in prayer to a degree which was without parallel in our experience. The young men prayed and cried out to God. And their prayers were heard; a number of them were filled with the Spirit, praised God, and spoke in tongues. This continued for two days. Then the actual Easter conference began. Our hall was soon packed. There was prayer and more prayer. The Spirit of prayer filled all of us. Small children were also filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. After the meeting, people prayed in every corner, from the attic to the dining room, in the kitchen and the woodshed. Private homes were also used. People prayed everywhere until past midnight. Some were healed from their sicknesses, and I have no idea how many were baptized with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues, but there were many—young and old.

The friends traveled home sincerely thankful to God for all His grace and manifold blessings.

We do not know what the result of this conference and this outpouring of the Spirit will be, but we know that two to three hundred people went home with the Spirit of prayer over their lives, determined to keep praying. And a large number of these were men in the prime of life, who were ready to make every effort to “pray down” the kingdom of God over the work in their own hometowns.

You who are reading this, help them in their purpose and work of prayer. I would like to urgently request the brothers in West Norway, America, Denmark, and Sweden to begin having prayer meetings. That drives all evil away, and God’s kingdom comes down.

Hearty greetings, and thanks for these wonderful conference days.
