406. Longsuffering
A longsuffering person is better than a mighty hero! Why? Because he can conquer the strongest fortress: the human heart. A longsuffering person never gives up. He does not give up on a poor wretch, as long as the wretch does not give up on himself.
A longsuffering person tries to give new courage and hope to a hopeless wretch, no matter how slow and insignificant their progress seems and no matter how pathetic the person is. A longsuffering person will endure where others give up. He always thinks about how God has been longsuffering toward him, and he counts God’s longsuffering as salvation.
Longsuffering endures where no one else can endure, and it always hopes for a happy result at the end. A longsuffering person judges himself because he is not longsuffering enough.
