225. To Desire to Be Highly Esteemed
The desire to be highly esteemed has more of an effect on people than they realize. Parents look down on their children if they are not able to become great and esteemed. If a son or daughter has attained to something great in this world, they usually look down on their lowly parents. If a person has learned to speak in a more refined manner than someone else, he looks down on that person. If a person that has a job that pays well walks according to his flesh, he can easily despise someone who is not so well paid.
In the church there is also “snobby” flesh, which looks down on the lowly. And because of this admiration for what is highly esteemed, these people send their children off to dancing classes. What folly! What a power of Satan! When will God’s kingdom come with power?
