224. Remain Independent
It sounds so free and bold. Many admire being “independent,” but is that the mind of Christ? Imagine if He said, “I want to remain independent, so everyone has to make it on their own as well as they can.” In Ephesians 4:15-16 it’s written: “But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
The prodigal son chose to be independent, but we see how it went for him. Lot also chose to be independent, and Abraham had to save him from captivity and intercede for him so that Lot would not perish together with the people of Sodom.
Stop with all such foolish talk about being independent because we’re living in an evil and sinful world where everyone needs a helping hand and spirit.
