How good it is through years of youth to carry

1.
How good it is through years of youth to carry
The yoke of Christ in true humility—
With faith in God, to sit alone in silence—
When He gives burdens, bear them quietly.
(Lam. 3:26-28)
2.
How good while young to follow our dear Master
And on the narrow way to bear our cross,
Not wasting life away with proud illusions
Of things that only bring eternal loss.
3.
How great it is to humbly walk with Jesus,
Be poor and yet in God all things possess—
To share the sorrow, pain, and need of others,
And when Christ comes, appear in snow-white dress.
(Rom. 12:15-16)
4.
So let us be for Christ a useful vessel
For every soul we meet throughout our days,
So we can show them Jesus and His vic’try,
That hearts be turned from grief to songs of praise.
5.
Let’s walk in light, e’er seeking God’s direction,
Thus in His nature daily to increase
And later shine in beautiful perfection.
Forevermore this glory shall not cease.
(2 Pet. 1:4-11)
6.
In this we see life’s purpose has been hidden;
For this alone the Father gave us breath.
And blest are they who live this life of vict’ry;
By Jesus’ pow’r they triumph over death.
